Angering the ME fairy

Not posted for a while as has been as very busy couple of days - travelling back from Wales, a scary interview, England dismally crashing out of the World Cup and most importantly, a big birthday. Yep, the Happy Panda is now 30!

Had a very fun weekend with amazing weather for the first time in 30 years and was delightful to see lots of friends. However, have now angered the ME fairy and struggling with very bad pain and tiredness as well as a truly evil headache. Worth it for the lovely memories though!

Will be back soon when feeling a bit more human x

Armadillo genes

No posts for a couple of days as a busy weekend and travelling to the Welsh countryside have taken up all my energy. Weekend was much fun with a birthday bbq on Saturday followed by a christening on Sunday at which the boy Panda was godfather. Then yesterday I travelled down to stay at my folks' in the middle of nowhere in Wales hoping that some peace and quiet would help me get going on all the work I need to do for my Masters (that I'm very behind on because of the damn ME).

Well, the sun is shining but have I been outside studying in the sunshine? Have I heck - the 5 1/2 hr journey yesterday has left me with mad jelly legs and soooo tired. I went to bed at 9.30 yesterday, got up at 10 this morning and as soon as I picked up a textbook, I fell asleep again and just woken up about 6 hours later!

Oh well, I read somewhere that armadillos need to sleep for about 18 hrs a day so perhaps I am just part armadillo...

Fingers crossed, I will get some work done tomorrow and be able to enjoy some of the sunshine as it definitely seems to help with relieving some of the symptoms. (The sunshine that is, not the studying...funnily enough that seems to make things worse!;-)

World Cup -woo hoo!

Ugh, feeling decidedly ropey today after dreadful nights' sleep, woken up with v painful legs and back and now just want to sleep for about 20 hours. Damn you ME! But despite all that, how can I not be happy when it's the start of the World Cup? I LOVE the World Cup and especially excited this year with South Africa hosting it.

Anywho who knows me knows that I often get a bit tearful at mass displays of passion and emotion and this was no exception - just watching the start of the South Africa match and had a little cry of happiness. Thank god I actually dozed off just before the opening ceremony...can you imagine the rivers of tears that would have gone on then?!

Other happy things today are that Boy Panda has let me stay at his house while he is at work as it is so much quieter than mine and can actually try and get some studying done. (Where do Pandas actually live? Apart from zoos? Must google...)

And huge thanks to my friend Debbie for giving me the biggest belly laugh I have had in ages - very good for the soul!

Mmmm food!

So food is one of the things that makes me unbelievably happy and I suspect that lots of my posts will be food related. I don't know if I can eat my way back to healthiness but I'm certainly going to try!

It's pretty grey and windy here today but who could fail to be cheered up by bright yellow sunny pineapple and big, fat juicy British strawberries. Followed later on by some soya yoghurt (so much nicer than I thought it would be) with some super healthy and tasty nuts and seeds. Look at the colour of the blueberry yoghurt - so pretty!

First post!

Hello!I'm starting this blog to celebrate the things in life that make me happy - the simple things that often get overlooked in day to day life that help to make life lighter and to help me through the days when ME/CFS makes it harder to be light.
I was finally diagnosed with ME/CFS a few months ago after having felt poorly for quite a while and some days it is a real battle and I'm still learning how to manage it properly. But I have realised that trying to be as happy as possible has got to help and so, after reading Gretchen Rubin's "The Happiness Project", I am inspired to start my own happiness project and blog along the way!
Feel free to join me along the journey!
Love The Happy Panda x
